Realignment?
Snow, art, and resolving indecision
So, yes, I didn’t post on Friday. It was that kind of week… and then the weekend, with some schedule changes and adjustments.
But, I’m getting the idea that a lot of friends are going through similar adjustments, and re-planning, rescheduling, etc.
Oh, we had another gorgeous week in Maine, and - in weather terms - it’s been a bit wild: Five inches of snow one day, and then 45F (or warmer) the next. As they say, “Don’t like the weather…? Wait a minute!” lol
The middle of March is fast approaching, and that means deciding when (and possibly where) to move.
What adds to the dilemma is how rapidly things are changing in my world… and - of course - the world at large. As I see it, it’s a time of choices… and of realignment.
I’m stepping away from headline news, as much as possible. A whole lot of what’s happening looks like a runaway train. I can speak up, demonstrate, donate to my preferred politicians’ campaigns, and so on. But there are no guarantees.
That feels disempowering. It’s not healthy.
It’s also why I’ve been scaling-back my time on social media. It’s not that I’m not sympathetic. In fact, it’s because those heartfelt posts often churn me up more, leading to more frustration, and… for me, a short road to burnout.
Then - for me - burnout leads to going silent. That’s not okay. Art (visual and the written word) is my voice. It’s where the energy is. It’s who I am.
So, if you see me less often at social media sites, it’s because I’m choosing health and happiness. I’m deliberately cultivating empowerment, and autonomy… in this crazy-for-now world.
This week, I’m setting more flexible goals, so I can easily maintain momentum in the face of changes.
I’m hoping to put my art into more PoD (print on demand) sites, and I’ll be working on fresh art and - I hope - finishing a work-in-progress: A full-color book of some of my collages. Also, I’d like to get back to mailing out free artcards, but a lot hinges on where we’re living.
The latest Maine Airbnb condo was very nice, but it had a very cramped floorplan for my husband and me to work in. So, now we’re in a Marriott hotel in a convenient location - about 10 minutes from the beach - and from local shopping - depending upon which direction we drive. It’s the same hotel we’ve always chosen for Portsmouth (NH) festivals and events.
So, yes, as my collage (above) says… we’re still in “in search of” mode, deciding the best path forward.
For now, here’s another free download. I love this message, because - instead of focusing on the negative things in our lives, it’s a challenge to find what we can improve, perhaps for everyone, or at least those around us. And, if nothing leaps out as an “I can improve this,” may find something cool/fun that you can create… no matter how small. And then share it.
This is a mini-poster from my “door signs” collection. (Dating back to the Covid lockdown, when I started creating daily signs to post on my front door, to cheer passers-by.) Click on the image (or the link below it) for a PDF with a 300 dpi image you can scale up or down, and print.
So, that’s the latest news, as vague and general as it may seem. A LOT is in flux right now - not just for me, but for so many of us - and we’re still sorting things out… where to live, how soon to move (and if there should be an interim step), and so on.
I’ll do my best to post again on Friday. Meanwhile, I hope the sun - real or virtual - is shining on you and bringing smiles to your life!
(That photo is from a recent visit to Ogunquit Beach, Maine.)
Cheerfully,
